The Frankfurt Book Fair is not just about books as merchandise, but also seeks to serve cultural interchange across national borders. With this in mind, every year it gives a Guest of Honour the opportunity to introduce itself in all its cultural diversity, both during and after the Book Fair.

Education is not just a growth market for the book and media industry. Given the high rates of illliteracy in many countries, it is also an important social-political issue.
